Employment Planning

  • Employment Planning is a collaborative process with the client whereby suitable alternate occupations (as previously identified by a vocational evaluation) are explored, researched and analyzed. Based on the exploration, a vocational plan is created that will identify the steps needed to lead to employment within the alternate occupation identified.

Case Management

Case management support is available to assist with rehabilitation coordination for clients who are recovering from injuries, illnesses or mental health conditions with the goal of assisting the client in optimizing his or her functional status and promoting the return to work, home and daily activities and roles.

CogMed™

  • Cogmed Working Memory Training is an evidence-based computerized training program designed to improve attention by effectively increasing working memory capacity through a systematic training period.

  • Cogmed has unique and outstanding records of strong and lasting results. If you or your client is easily distracted and/or struggling particularly with attention concerns, having trouble completing tasks or following instructions, or failing to meet academic or professional goals despite motivation and hard work, poor working memory could be part of the problem. Cogmed can help!

Individualized Return to Work/Stay at Work Focused Counselling

  • Registered Social Workers MSW and certified therapists (Masters and PhD) provide one on one individualized counselling based on client needs and treatment goals (Specialty including: Chronic Pain, Mood Disorders, Addictions, Trauma)
  • Chronic Pain management programs are also available.

PGAP

  • Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP™): PGAP™ is an up to 10 week, evidence-based, standardized life role reintegration program that focuses on reducing disability despite the presence of persistent physical and/or mental health symptoms. PGAP™ can be offered at a client’s home, or in the community. PGAP™ aims to help clients return to increased independence with daily activities, improve quality of life and ideally return to work
  • A highly structured rehabilitation program utilizing customized goals to assist with restoration of function, improved concentration, increased memory and preparation for return to work. Interaction and guidance of learning support specialists, recreation therapist, art therapist, rehabilitation specialist, health and fitness consultant and CBT specialist.

Cognitive Work Hardening Program

A highly structured rehabilitation program utilizing customized goals to assist with restoration of function, improved concentration, increased memory and preparation for return to work. Interaction and guidance of learning support specialists, recreation therapist, art therapist, rehabilitation specialist, health and fitness consultant and CBT specialist. Includes:

  • Assessment
  • Health & Fitness support and counselling to improve overall wellbeing and physical stamina (walking routine, nutritional guidance, caffeine intake monitoring, sleep hygiene improvement)
  • Hands on computerized cognitive skills restoration
  • Controlled environment work tasks to mimic actual work expectations based on client’s job objective (data input, business conversation, computation, organization skill
  • Recreation therapy (pleasant activity scheduling, therapy using recreation to improve coordination, concentration, thought organization, logic…)
  • Workplace and personal skills development

Situational Work Assessments/Work Hardening

  • Customized to the client, this program is based on a physical, functional, and psychological assessment taking into consideration the job that the employee is to return to. The Program addresses the employee’s mental and physical limitations, and is characterized by the following components: work simulation, progressive physical reconditioning, and functional strengthening using job specific activities and tasks.
  • This program may include an assessment of the individual’s competencies in performing essential job duties of specific competitive employment positions, work sampling, work tolerance and functional capacity assessment, motor skill and manual dexterity testing, assessing assistive technology needs and accommodations needed within a workplace and assessing postsecondary training and workplace accommodations.
  • Our Work Hardening Program runs five days a week, for four to eight weeks, and based on a minimum four to five hours/day to simulate a realistic work week.

Non Dominant Hand Training (NDHT)

  • Each program is customized to meet each client’s needs. NDHT begins with an initial assessment to identify appropriate goals for the client. Using standardized tests to establish a baseline for perceptual-motor functioning, clients are assessed biomechanically and monitored through the program by a professional kinesiologist.
  • Typical goals may include: improving range of motion and strength; improving grip, pinch, hand strength; improving gross and/or fine motor coordination; developing writing ability; learning ne handed typing technique.
